The Auxiliary Medical
Service (AMS) was set up in December 1950. It is an independent
department operating under the Security Bureau which comprises more
than 4,000 members.
Some members of AMS
are come from professionals consisting doctors, nurses, pharmacists,
dispensers and radiographers...
The main role of AMS is to augment the regular
health/emergency services. So they will
supplement the medical and health services
by providing triage/treatment to the injured on the spot, to convey
casualties to hospitals, and to care for patients at both acute
and convalescent hospitals when emergency.
AMS
also provides on-the-spot first aid coverage for major activities
and organizes basic courses on first aid and resuscitation for civil
servants.
