The Special Administrative Region of Macau is a modern city which is located on the Southeast coast of China, it lies 60km from Hong Kong. Before the People's Republic of China handed over Macau and resume sovereignty in 1999, she was a colony of Portugal.

With a total area of just under 23.8 square kilometers, it covers the peninsula of Macau, and the two islands of Taipa and Coloane. The population of Macau is about 438 thousands.

Fire & Rescue

In Macau, Fire Department calls "Corpo de Bombeiros", is a government force under the Public Security Bureau. It is an emergency force responsible for fire-fighting and rescue on land and at the international airport within Macau's territorial boundary. It also provides an emergency ambulance service for the injured. However, the Search and Rescue operation on marine is responded by Port Authority.

The Fire Department has an establishment of about 700 uniformed firefighters and paramedic with various fire and rescue appliances and ambulances. There are seven fire stations strategically located throughout the territory to protect the citizens.

Aerial Rescue Team

The Macau Tower which located Nam Van Lake development, is the latest tourist spot in Macau and the 10th highest freestanding tower in the world. It heights 338 metres. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Macau cityscape and the fresh air at an Outdoor Observation Deck where height of 233 metres above ground level. 

Some aerial incidents or emergencies may occur in the tower, so Macau Fire Department established a "Equipa de Salvamento no Alto" (Aerial Rescue Team) to handle all difficult aerial rescue operations.

The team members must attend a training course which held by aerial rescue organization of New Zealand.
